Some members of our reading group had the wish to read, for once, a less sad book, so we decided for “The Rosie Project” by Graeme Simsion, Australia and were not disappointed of this endearing love comedy. It is funny, touching, unputdownable and interesting also as far as the Asperger’s syndrome, which appears already in childhood, is concerned. By the way, I’ve read that many more boys have been found with this syndrome in the past, but it may well be that girls have been overlooked as their symptoms are less conspicuous.

Da einige der Mitglieder unserer Lesegruppe einmal ein etwas weniger tragisches Buch lesen wollten, entschieden wir und für “Das Rosie Project” von Graeme Simsion, Australien. Diese liebenswerte Liebeskomödie hat uns dann tatsächlich auch nicht enttäuscht. Die Geschichte ist lustig, ergreifend, interessant und man kann das Buch einfach nicht mehr aus der Hand geben. Es handelt vom Asperger Syndrom, das anscheinend bereits in der Kindheit sichtbar wird und von dem man lange Zeit sagte, dass mehr Knaben betroffen seien, aber jetzt vermutet man, dass man dieses Symptom bei den Mädchen übersehen hat, weil es bei ihnen viel weniger offensichtlich ist.
Alcuni membri del nostro gruppo di letteratura inglese avevano il desiderio di leggere una storia un po’ meno triste del solito, per cui abbiamo deciso di affrontare „Il progetto di Rosie“ di Graeme Simsion, Australia. Questa commedia d’amore amabile ci ha minimamente deluso! La storia è allegra, toccante, interessante e non si può più metterla via. Si tratta della sindrome di Asperger che sembra di venire ovvio già in infanzia e di cui si credeva per tanto tempo che ragazzi fossero più colpiti di femmine. Adesso viene però anche sospettato che questa sindrome non viene così facilmente scoperte in bambine, perché molto meno lampante.

Their obsessive interests are usually limited to a few areas and they may be greatly talented in these areas.

Anche la ripetizione di certi movimenti appartiene in questo quadro di sintomi come la difficoltà di comunicazione e mancanza di empatia. The main character, a genetics professor, Don Tillman with Asperger’s syndrome – completely unaware of it- is about 39 years old, has a good working condition, calculates his daily timetable in seconds or eats, for example, every Tuesday lobster. For this behavior he has his own very detailed explanations. Absolutely special are his freezing and lobster-executions methods in chapter 7!
So, Don thinks that the time has come to find a suitable wife. This means a partner that is never late, doesn’t smoke or drinks alcohol, is overweight or vegetarian. Then, with the help of Gene and Claudia, his best friends, he establishes a very detailed form and meets Rosie who almost fails on every score. He is very direct and therefore always says what he thinks which makes him often drop a clanger!
Don, a DNA specialist, is however the right person to help Rosie to find her biological father. So Rosie and Don go onto the father project and Don realizes that one has not to find love but love finds you!

Die Hauptperson, ein 39ig Jahre alten Professor für Genetik, Don Tillman, hat Asperger Syndrom, dessen er sich zwar nicht bewusst ist, und eine ausgezeichnete berufliche Position. Er berechnet seinen Stundenplan in Sekunden und isst, zum Beispiel, jeden Dienstag, Hummer, wofür er seine ganz speziellen und detaillierten Gründe hat.
Ich muss zugeben, dass ich mich über die Art und Weise, wie Don seine Hummer ins Gefrierfach steckt und „menschlich“ tötet amüsiert hat. (Siehe Kapital 7)
Also, Don denkt, dass die Zeit für ihn gekommen ist eine passende Ehefrau zu suchen. Seine Traumpartnerin darf nie zu spät sein, nicht rauchen, keinen Alkohol trinken, nicht übergewichtig und nicht Vegetarierin sein. Dann stellt er zusammen mit seinen beiden Freunden Gene und Claudia ein langes und detailliertes Informationsformular auf. Dank Gene lernt er Rosie kennen, die eigentlich keine seiner aufgestellten Punkte erfüllt! Er ist ausgesprochen direkt und sagt deshalb immer genau das, was er denkt, indem er oft ins Fettnäpfchen tritt.
Don, der DNA Spezialist, ist genau die richtige Person Rosie bei der Suche nach ihrem biologischen Vater zu suchen. Also nehmen die beiden gemeinsam das “Vater Projekt” in Angriff und Don merkt ganz langsam, dass man die Liebe nicht suchen muss, sondern, dass die Liebe einen sucht.

Il carattere principale, un 39enne professore in genetica, Don Tillman presenta la sindrome di Asperger, di cui non è per niente cosciente. Egli ha un’ottima posizione professionale, calcola il suo orario in secondi e mangia astice regolarmente ogni martedì. Don ha dei motivi molto particolari per questo procedere.
Devo ammettere che mi ha divertito il suo modo di congelare e di uccidere la sua astice in modo „umano“. (Vedi capito 7)
Allora, Don è dell’avviso che sia arrivato per lui il momento di cercarsi una moglie adeguata. La sua compagna ideale non deve mai arrivare in ritardo, non fumare, non bere, non essere obesa e non essere vegetariana. Stabilisce un formulario d’informazione molto dettagliato anche con l’aiuto dei suoi due amici Gene e Claudia.
Grazie a Gene, Don conosce Rosie che in fondo non risponde a quasi nessuno dei suoi punti stabiliti! Egli è molto diretto e dici quindi sempre quello che pensa e fa tante gaffe in questo modo.
Don, lo specialista del DNA è però propria la persona giusta nella ricerca di Rosie nel trovare suo padre biologico. Allora, i due attaccano assieme questo “progetto del padre”. Molto lentamente Don si accorge che non bisogna andare in ricerca dell’amore, ma l’amore viene a cercare le persone.
L’AMORE NON BISOGNA ANDARE A CERCARE, PERCHE ESSO VIENE A CERCARE TE! Die Liebe musst du nicht suchen, sie sucht dich! Love doesn’t need to be searched because it finds you!
