TÜREN/DOORS/PORTE/FUNCHAL

Zu Funchals Türen/About Funchal’s doors/In merito alle porte di Funchal

Give a man a fish and you feed hm for the day, show him how to catch a fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for the day, show him how to catch a fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

As we were strolling across the old town of Funchal, the capital city of Madeira Island, we were told that after the terrible flooding in 2010 artists had started to paint and ornament doors in order to embellish the battered houses and to give life back to the city. This impressive artistic works, open to everybody, which have been executed within a short time, have really  got under my skin, I would like to present some of them. They are often in connection with the daily life of the citizens.

The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing, but newspapers. Send quote to a friend Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) Third president of the United States.

Dunbar sagte noch einmal zu Clevinger. “So lang.”
