Die Augusto Giacometti Halle

Weil wir die Ausstellung von Alberto Giacometti im Kunsthaus, Zürich besuchen wollten, habe ich auch ganz zufällig herausgefunden, dass Augusto Giacometti, ein weiteres Mitglied der berühmten Giacometti Dynastie, die Eingangshalle der Stadtpolizei in Zürich zwischen 1923-1925 gestaltet hat. Da sie sehr nah beim Bahnhof ist, gingen wir also zuerst dorthin. Obwohl die Halle zu der Zeit eigentlich nicht geöffnet war, wurden wir zugelassen und waren von diesem Kunstwerk total überwältigt. So ein Eingang zur Polizei!!! Dank einer Spezialbewilligung durften wir diese Fotos machen.

Die üppigen Farben, die Blumen, Blätter, Rosetten der Dekorationsarbeit sind voller Licht. Gegenüber dem Wandbild der Zimmerleute sind Symbolfiguren für die geistigen Berufe, für die Ordnung und Weitsicht. Der Magier weist auf den pythagoreischen Lehrsatz und der Astronom schaut mit dem Fernrohr ins Weltall.

Ich empfand dieses Farben Feuerwerk als viel schöner als die ganze Weihnachtsbleuchtung in der Stadt!

As we wanted to see Alberto Giacometti’s exhibition in the Kunsthaus, Zurich, I have, by chance, found out that another member of this dynasty of artists, Augusto Giacometti and master of colour, had painted the entrance hall of the city police in Zurich between 1923-1925. As this is very near the train station we went first to see that hall. We were admitted to see this spectacular piece of art despite the fact that at the moment it was not really open and were, of course, very happy. When we saw the painting of the vaulting, we were just speechless! An entrance like this at a police station is unbelievable!

The sumptuous colours flowers, leaves or rosettes of this decoration work are full of light. Opposite the painting of the carpenters are the characters of the spiritual professions, for order and far-sightedness. The Magician is hinting at Pythagoras’ theorem and the astronomer is looking into the universe with his telescope.

I loved this piece of art much more than all the Christmas lights in the city!

Visto che volevamo vedere l’esposizione dell’famoso artista Alberto Giacometti presso il Kunsthaus, Zurigo, sono per caso venuta a sapere che un altro membro della dinastia Giacometti, Augusto, aveva pitturato, fra il 1923-1925, la volta dell’entrata della polizia di città, Zurigo. La stessa si trova poco distante dalla stazione del treno e ci siamo quindi, per primo, recati lì.

L’orario al fine di poter vedere quest’opera d’arte non era però giusto, ma ci è comunque stato permesso di vederla. Siamo stati molto riconoscenti e nello stesso tempo sopraffatto di quel lavoro assolutamente favoloso. Grazie ad un permesso eccezionale abbiamo potuto fare queste foto.

I colori lussuregganti, i fiori, foglie e lavori di decorazione sono pieni di luce. In faccia al panello murale riguardante i carpentieri ci sono figure simboliche delle professioni spirituali, per l’ordine e lungimiranza. Il mago fa segno al teorema di Pitagora e l’astronoma guarda verso l’universo con il suo telescopio.

Ho trovato molto più toccante ed impressionante quest’entrata che tutte le luci artificiali in città.

    • It’s when I saw this piece of art, dear Rebecca, that I thought of you and your post about angels and had a feeling that Augusto Giacometti must have had a spiritual guidance when he did it! The world is full of surprises and awarenesses. We have blue sky and about 10 degrees during the day but now snow in sight.

  4. Fantastisch! Und wie gut musst du dich gefühlt haben, an einem solchen Ort plötzlich vor diesem Anblick zu stehen. Ich dachte daran, was ein Bloggerfreund dieser Tage über die Freude des Findens schrieb…..Finden ist Glück. Vielleicht sollte man Polizisten immer an so schönen Orten einquartieren, anstatt sie mit dem ewigen Bürograu abzuspeisen?

    • Dieses Finden bedeutete tatsächlich ein unerwartetes Glück für uns, das ich hier teilen wollte, weil Glück ja das Einzige ist das sich dadurch vermehrt!! Ich denke die Umgebung hat auf uns alle einen grossen Einfluss! Dein Besuch hat mich sehr gefreut. Schlaf gut.:)

  5. That is truly spectacular. I visited the Kunsthaus in Zurich when I visited and was impressed, but I had no idea about this masterpiece at the police station>
