Carlo Gatti and his family from the very poor Blenio Valley,Ticino, Switzerland as well as the family Barguti and Artori were absolute successful in the 19th century London. If the Gatti’s hadn’t been, the London citizens would probably still wait for the ice cream!!!He also Non only did Carlo Gatti bring hundreds of young people from his country to London to work. In the book he also gave “Zichinin” Nick, a boy from the street the chance, not only to survive, but to become a famous engineer in London after having studied at the ETH, Zürich! The writer Anne Cuneo, originally from France, who later became Swiss wrote an impressive book about the family “Gatti’s Varietés”. The son of Agostino Gatti made it even to become mayor of London in 1911!!
